This painting was for my personal pleasure – it was sheer joy to sit in my (rather chilly) studio and recall all the wonderful sights and sensations of my birthday visit to Florence with husband Steve and friends. I chose my richest oil colours to recall the fiery sunsets, flat topped pine trees and slender cypresses, gorgeous terracotta roof tiles, balconies and terraces – not to mention the Duomo and the campanile of the Palazzo Vecchio.
And of course I’m reliving wonderful Italian food, Prosecco in a roof bar, and visiting the Ufizzi gallery to drool over the Renaissance masterpieces.
I’m very pleased with this painting and am going to have some prints made – perhaps mugs and tea towels, maybe even scarves. A bit of a new venture for me – watch this space!
A never to be forgotten trip. A painting course in Florence is now on my wish list!
