I have been invited by Clwydian Art Society to lead a workshop on Freestyle Watercolour techniques in November and I’m busily planning the event. Watercolour has a reputation for being a difficult medium – unlike oils or acrylics it’s difficult to paint out mistakes.

But the joy of watercolour is the effects you get when you just allow it do it’s own thing and let the magic happen. Rather than trying to control it, we can play with it and respond to it. By encouraging it to flow, run and mingle we are free to see where the painting wants to take us. Wonderful things can emerge from the resulting artistic chaos!
